Vapor Blasting Service

Side-by-side comparison of a dirty and clean carburetor throttle body.

Cost and quote info

If you have parts that you would like vapor blasted, please email us bakervaporworks@gmail.com with photos of everything you need cleaned. We will provide you with a quote and timeline and we can determine if anything needs special attention.

We charge $50/hour

For example: a set of 4 carburetors for a motorcycle would take 2-3 hours depending on complexity. Or an intake plenum on a 4 cylinder engine would take 1-2 hours.

Why vapor blast?

Vapor blasting is great for restoring metals like aluminum, steel or brass. The glass bead media removes rust, gasket material and paint and leaves behind a shiny finish that looks brand new.

What can it be used on?

We see vapor blasting mostly used in the automotive world. Carburetors, intake plenums, throttle bodies, brackets, etc. are mostly made of aluminum. The surface of the metal of these parts is not completely smooth. There are tiny holes and grooves along that surface and overtime dirt and grease build up in these making it difficult to remove with conventional means. The glass bead media used in vapor blasting is very fine and makes short work in removing dirt and grease leaving behind a clean surface.

Outside of the cars or motorcycles vapor blasting can be used on anything metal, but keep in mind if that part has anything attached to it that you would not want vapor blasted. Examples would be soft elements like fabric or ceramic.

Drawbacks

The glass bead media will remove zinc plating, paint, or cerakote. For steel this means it would need to be anodized or replated with zinc.
